The International Institute of Peace and Development Studies (IIPDS) is calling for applications from peace activists, community development workers, scholars, journalists and youth, women and religious leaders for its next School of Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation Course. The two-week course will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from February 13th – 25th February, 2019. It will include workshops, lectures and exposure visits to local communities and peace initiatives.



Since its debut in 2005, the annual peace studies programs have empowered a network of community leaders, activists and scholars from across the world. The School of Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation focuses on understanding peace and conflict in local, regional and international contexts, conflict analysis, its positive transformation and violence prevention. Participants will gain skills relevant to peacebuilding and creative justpeace advocacy and actions from grassroots, national and international levels.

 

In conjunction with the 18th School of Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation Course, IIPDS in collaboration with its partner academic institutions is holding the 3rd Young Scholar Conference in Bangkok, Thailand from 28th February – 1st March, 2019. The conference’s primary objective is to offer academic and social spaces and opportunities for the young scholars to present their academic work, develop networks and enhance interaction with fellow young and senior scholars in various disciplines of social and political sciences from different countries. The conference also facilitates the process of exploring collective transdisciplinary cooperation on the promotion of sustainable and peaceful future. Participants accepted into the School of Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation will be granted opportunity to attend the 3rd Young Scholar Conference and are therefore encouraged to submit the abstract of the paper along with their course application.



Women and community workers in conflict areas are particularly encouraged to apply. English proficiency is required.

Course Fees:

US$250: Two Week Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation Course

US$350: Two Week Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation Course + the 3rd Young Scholar Conference  

Travel costs from home country to Thailand are the responsibility of the participant or sponsoring agency.

Participants are encouraged to explore and mobilize sponsorship from their respective institutions and networks.
